A Very Classy Christmas

Last night, we hosted a "Classy Christmas Soirée" in Park City at my roommate Jessi's house. She lives in a beautiful area, in a beautiful house, which was decorated with beautiful Christmas decorations. We made it a formal event, so all the guests looked classy and sophisticated. Also, we mentioned that sequins would earn guests extra points. I was lucky enough to find a vintage red sequin dress from the 80s that I bought when I was in high school. After cutting out the shoulder pads, and adding a belt and tights, I would say it looked pretty decent! Traditional Christmas music was on the playlist for the party. We ended up getting to Jessi's house a little later than expected, which gave us a late start to cooking all the food, but we were able to get almost everything finished before our guests arrived.

For dinner, we made homemade pizzas, lasagnas, and pastas. We had BBQ Chicken pizza and a chicken veggie pizza with sun-dried tomato alfredo sauce. Pumpkin lasagna (sounds gross...but it's a Rachael Ray recipe and super delicious) and traditional meat lasagna were also on the menu, along with pasta served with alfredo, pesto, and tomato sauces. For only having an hour and a half to cook all the food, I would say we did a pretty good job! Jessi's mother took care of the tables, which were set with gorgeous china and silver and gold silverware. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the place settings, but I can assure you that they were absolutely exquisite (perfect for a classy Christmas party).

Some of the guests and most of the food. Pizza, lasagna, salad, pasta.

This is the only picture that you can sort of see the place settings. They were so pretty!

As the dinner went on, more and more guests showed up. We had a bigger turnout than we expected! But it really was "the more, the merrier," and we had a great time with everybody. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring the mistletoe (we really did buy some...and then we left it our apartment) but I would say a merry time was had by all.

Jared and Jeff lookin' spiffy in their bow ties.

A fine and classy bunch.

Jenna, Nate, and Dave with their classy glasses filled with fancy drinks.

Upon being instructed to look sophisticated, I'd say they succeeded.

Jessi, Vladi, and I.

This is Nick Jones. He is a classy fellow in his cumberbun and bow tie.

Kai, Brad, and I in front of the Christmas tree.

Mark and I doing a classic pose...but reversed?

This looks like an 80s cruise picture if you ask me.

In front of the piano. Dave's a drinker.

Dinner group family pic (minus Lindsey, Ryan, Derek, and Jake)

Michael and his fabulous striped tie.

Cam, Adam, Katie, and I by the fireplace. Traditional classy pose. Adam's face is the classiest part of the photo.

We read some sophisticated literature during the evening as well.

Sophisticated music filled the air as Katie lounged on the piano.

The hostesses: Katie, Jessi, Bridget, and I. We were sad our roommate, Lindsey, left us to go to Vegas for the weekend. Wish you could have been there girl!

Urban tradition.

After everyone left, we got to do the really fun part...clean up. Over 40 plates, cups, and sets of silverware to wash (all by hand, since it was fancy and all). We all worked together and got everything done in a little over an hour! The four of us roommates spent the night at Jessi's house. We brought super cute pajamas to change into, as you can see:

The Classy Christmas Party is going to be a new annual tradition I think.
